Your Blog is fantastic. Quick question, do you think these areas are safe for a 60 year old lady on her own?

Thank you

Thanks Liye. For a private trip, the cost would depend on the guide you hire, and other factors. If you contact one of the tour guides listed in this article, they can give you a quote.

Most things are cash only in Banggai, including drivers, hotels, ferries, and restaurants. I’m not sure about money changers, but there are plenty of ATMs in Luwuk, Salakan, and Banggai Laut. We brought a wad of cash from Bali and then pulled some more from an ATM at the BNI bank in Banggai Laut.

I am inspired to go there. Will locals or homestay or drivers accept payment in card or cash only ? Is it easy to exchange currency? Thanks

Sure! They should usually be available, but if you want to be sure, I would contact Butros Delim and arrange it in advance. He lives on Peleng and you can message him on his Instagram page. They can definitely do underwater videos and photos for you.

May I ask, since I will be traveling solo – with the GoPro hire + photographer, will they always be available, and can they take underwater videos/photos?

We had phone signal with Telkomsel at the lake, and also at our homestay in Leme Leme. It’s good enough for sending texts and emails at least. The situation is better in the main towns like Luwuk, Salakan, and Banggai Laut. We had WiFi in all of those places.
