Sure, north Bali has lots of things to see and do, including some great waterfalls and the lake temples (Bratan and Tamblingan). The Kintamani area also has nice mountain scenery. Here are more ideas: https://theworldtravelguy.com/category/destinations/asia/indonesia/bali/north-bali/

It is really helpful. My family is going this July/August 2025 and staying in Sanur and Canggua area. However, my husband and I and our 9year old will be going earlier and are thinking of traveling in the northern part and a bit off the beaten track. Then I will be staying alone with our daughter and traveling just she and I. I was thinking of maybe enrolling her in a local day camp for a week. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts about traveling in north and things to do travel alone with my daughter and I?

Hi Aroon, glad you enjoyed!

1. You can stay in Sanur and do a day trip to Nusa Penida, or it’s also possible to stay a couple days on Penida island to do more sightseeing there. I think it’s best to spend at least two days and one night in Penida if you can, but if you don’t have time for that then a day trip is still worthwhile. You can read my Nusa Penida travel guide for some ideas of the best things to do on the island.

2. For Ubud, a good midrange option is SenS Hotel, which is located right near the town center. Or a good budget hotel is Ubud Glassy Villa. For Sanur, a good hotel option is Parigata Resorts or Puri Hiromi. For Nusa Penida, a good hotel option is The Sagara. For Uluwatu, a good family option is Bingin Bienvenue or similar.

3. Sure, if you have an extra day you could visit Lempuyang temple and some other sights on a day trip from Ubud or Sanur. Here are some more ideas of things to do in East Bali. I hope this helps!
